The "Musee de la Mer" (Maritime Museum), in Biarritz,
facing the Rocher de la Vierge.
First opened in 1935 and now fully renovated.
Definitely worth a visit.
A fascinating collection of the fish and invertebrates that live in the Bay of
Biscay displayed in 24 aquariums with over 150 species including sharks, saw
fish and the guitar ray.
And the classic attraction of the seal's pool, seen from under water and in the open air. Don't miss feeding time at 10.30am and 5pm
Open daily from 9.30am to 12.30pm and from 2pm to 6pm
- From 9.30am to 6pm : February, Halloween and Christmas holidays + holiday weekends in May
- From 9.30am to 7pm : Easter holidays - June and September.
- From 9.30am to midnight : July and August.
Closed on Mondays from November to March except for school holidays.
Annual closing : the second and third weeks of January, and 1st of January in the morning.
