Became the 25th woman in the Open era to reach the 400-win mark at 1996 Birmingham when she defeated Miriam Oremans in the semifinals.

Won 1995 Eastbourne for first-ever grass court title; upset three higher-seeded players en route to title, including second seed Natasha Zvereva.

Overcame French countrywoman Mary Pierce 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in the second round on Centre Court at 1995 Wimbledon; Pierce was seeded fifth.

Coached by Regis de Camaret, Co Director of the Tennis school in Capbreton (First coach was a French journalist)

Began playing tennis at age 7

And are we correct in believing before the Official results of the Corel WTA are published, that you are the Worlds Women's N°.11 seeded player for 97 ?
Yes that's correct !
Well done congratulations.

1: When did you start to play tennis ?
I started to play tennis with my brother when I was 7 in africa and I liked the game right from the start. I also used to dance.
2: When did you decide to turn professional ?
I decide to go professional at 18 when I won the French Championships. I quit school to play tennis.
3: What surface do you prefer ?
I like to play on grass and fast courts.
4: What are your hobbies apart from tennis ?
I like playing golf, listening to music, funk and jazz, and reading books about romance or fantasy.
5: What are your favourite countries to go to on the Tour ?
I love playing in the United States. I like the American way of life.
6: How many hours training do you do every day ?
I do 2 or 3 hours tennis every day and an hour and a half of physical training.
7: What's your best memory ?
The day I beat Martina Navratilova in Barcelona in 1992 and when I won the Fed Cup with the French Team 1997.
8: What's your worst memory ?
I'm lucky not have bad memories about my tennis, because there are more worse things in life than losing a match.
9: What made you choose to live in the South West of France ?
I love this region, I like the people, the weather is great, it's never too cold, and my father's familly came from Bayonne.
10: What is you favourite food ?
Confit de canard and chips. (local specialty of cured fried duck).
