The geographical situation of the campsite, close to Saint Jean Pied de Port in the heart of the Basque Pyrenees makes it an an ideal starting point to discover the rich history, the traditions and culture of our region.
 

 
2 minutes (2 kms) from camping Narbaitz, Saint Jean Pied de Port is a town steeped in history. Visit the medieval town centre inside the fortress walls and follow in the footsteps of the pilgrims on the road to Saint Jacques de Compostelle.
 
 
The Iraty forest is Europe's largest beech forest, a paradise for nature-lovers and walkers with breathtaking waterfalls and canyons, Holzarté and Kakouetta !

Admire the Baïgorry valley, overlooked by the superb Iparla hill crests, and the Aldudes valley and enjoy local  gastronomy in the numerous restaurants ( trout, basque pork, ewe's cheese…).





Take the little train that winds up the Rhune mountain and visit the surrounding villages Ascain, Sare, Aïnhoa, Espelette … famous for their traditional white and red Basque houses. Proof that mountains and architecture blend together.

The Côte Basque's fine sandy beaches and surfing waves are only 45 minutes away, a reminder that the Basque people are also fishermen and sailors.

Spain is just behind the mountains. Take a day to experience a different culture in the towns and villages of navarre and aragon: Pampelune, Puente la Reina, Olite, Tafalla, Sos Del Rey, Lumbier, Leyre.
