On all approaches to the Beaches, you are met with the mountainous fine white sandy dunes. (These Sand dunes were Man made in around 1840 to protect the countryside from the onslaught of the Atlantic Ocean), Above is the plage of Vieux Boucau which has easy access ramps to cross the dunes, this beach has bars and ample parking. The beaches on the estuary need no climbing of the dunes.

The above photograph is of the long "Lake side" beach of Vieux Boucau.

Soustons Plage (South West of the Lake Sea side) has no bars, but there is ample parking, adjacent to the parking for the lake beach is a small centre with bars & restaurant .... The picture above is looking South from the estuary.

Soustons Plage "Lake side" beach has a small commercial block with bars as stated above, with ample parking. This beach has water sports facilities. (Excuse me for experimenting with the photos, but I think it shows the expance of beach & Island better). The above photo is looking North towards Vieux Boucau.
