On all approaches to the Beaches (with lifeguards in the summer), you are met with the mountainous fine white sandy dunes.
These Sand dunes were Man made in around 1840 to protect the countryside from the onslaught of the
Atlantic Ocean.
Back in prehistoric days, some of the Landes Departement did not exist, proof has been established that the fine white sand, is
segments of ancient shell fish and has been discovered as far inland as 40 kms.
Plages des Estagnots & des Casernes have very little with regards to bars, the rest are close to bars, cafe's, shops and restaurants etc. .... The picture above is typical of all Beaches in Seignosse.
The photo in the right was taken from the Plage des Estagnots looking South, with the silhouette of the Pyrenees Montains in the background.

The path to the beach, the wooden walkway across the soft sand and the lifeguards who insure your safety... Please respect their instructions and swing between the flags !!
